Adam Scott picked Marc Leishman as his partner to represent Australia at the World Cup of Golf, replacing top-ranked Jason Day, who withdrew to rest his ailing back.

Scott, the sixth-ranked player in the world, and Leishman will comprise one of 28 teams competing on behalf of their countries at the Kingston Heath Golf club from Nov. 23-27. It will mark the first World Cup of Golf appearance for Leishman, who is a six-time event winner worldwide, including his lone PGA Tour victory at the 2012 Traveler Championship.

"I'm extremely excited about playing in the World Cup of Golf with Adam," Leishman said. "I can't wait to represent my country back home in Australia," Leishman said. "Also, my best to Jason for a quick recovery."

The World Cup of Golf is a 72-hole, stroke play, two-man team event format. The first and third days of competition will be the foursomes (alternate shot) format and the second and final days are fourball (best ball) play.

Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker are scheduled to represent the United State, and the event will feature 17 of the top 50 players in the world golf rankings.
