Chingy Signs New Deal With Bungalo Records

It's been nearly 10 years since Chingy last released a studio album, but it appears the rapper is gearing up for another project after signing a new deal with Bungalo Records.

The rapper's new label distributes exclusively through Universal Music Group and will give him full control over his content. "I'm so honored to be working with these two established companies, Universal and Bungalo Records, who are innovators in this music industry for decades," he said. "Teamwork makes a dream work and Bungalo/ Universal has that down pat. RIP to my mother. I do this for the love of her and the Universe."

While the rapper's last album dropped in 2007, he has stayed busy, releasing mixtapes and EPs. Chingy's last mixtape, The Purge, was released in 2016. The rapper also put out the independent album, Success & Failure, in 2010.

Earlier this year, Chingy mourned the death of his mother, Vernita "Jean" Crawford, who passed away at the age of 59. In a heartfelt letter, the rapper thanked his fans and honored his mother, praising her for raising he and his siblings.

"My family and I would like to thank everyone for all of the condolences, phone calls and kind words," he wrote in the letter. "The loss of our mother was unforeseen and heartbreaking. She was the foundation to who my siblings and I are and she is loved by many. We're asking for privacy in this time of bereavement and hope you continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers, as we learn to cope with this devastating absence from our family structure. Thank you again for all your love and support. Peace and Love, Chingy."
