LEWISBERRY, Pa. (WHTM) – A York County woman has been charged with homicide by vehicle for a pedestrian crash that killed another woman in Fairview Township last winter.

Trisha M. Seilhamer, 30, of Lewisberry, also faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment, and summary traffic offenses in the crash that killed 45-year-old Nina Stout in the 900 block of Lewisberry Road, according to charging documents filed Wednesday by township police.

Stout was walking on the southbound shoulder when she was struck by Seilhamer’s 2012 Chevrolet Cruze on the morning of Feb. 20. According to the criminal complaint, Seilhamer drove onto the shoulder while heading southbound and negotiating a left curve in the roadway.

Police wrote that Seilhamer’s car traveled on the shoulder for about 135 feet before striking Stout. They said there was no evidence of evasive actions such as braking or steering found at the scene.

Stout, who was walking north, moved about 10 feet to the right to avoid being struck, police said.

Seilhamer told investigators she was driving home from work when a figure appeared directly in front of her car. She said she was unable to react or avoid hitting the figure, which went over her windshield. She said she stopped her car and confirmed she struck a person, the complaint states.

Seilhamer was released on unsecured bail. She waived a preliminary hearing and is scheduled to appear for a formal arraignment on Dec. 2.Get breaking news, weather and traffic on the go. Download our News App and our Weather App for your phone and tablet.
