More than 50 volunteers from Huntington Bank taught Youngstown students about personal finances on Tuesday.

The program is called “Reality Day.” It was held at McGuffey Elementary School.

Students learned how to create a budget and how credit and debit cards work.

They also learned about the importance of saving.

“If we start planning now and training our youth, making them aware of what a budget means, and financing and how they are supposed to handle their money, it becomes reality,” William Shivers said.

The program is part of United Way’s Success After Six effort in local schools.
