Pasco Sheriff's deputies are investigating the crash of a small plane that occurred on Chancey Road.

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL - Pasco Sheriff's deputies are investigating a plane crash that occurred at Chancey Road (which turns into Old Lakeland Highway) at County Road 54 in Zephyrhills about 2:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23.

When Pasco Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, the single-engine bi-plane was in a ditch with its pilot and passenger lying on the ground. Firefighters evaluated the passenger who was transported to the hospital with minor cuts. The pilot declined treatment.

The pilot reported that he was traveling from Leesburg to Zephyrhills when he began to experience engine trouble at an altitude of about 1,800 feet. He said he attempted to land the aircraft on Chancey Road but clipped a stoplight and crashed into the ditch.
