Raiders Acquire Quarterback Christian Hackenberg

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have acquired QB Christian Hackenberg via a trade with the New York Jets, the club announced Wednesday. As part of the trade terms, the Raiders will receive Hackenberg in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Hackenberg was originally drafted by the Jets in the second round (51st overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. He has not appeared in an NFL game.

The 6-foot-4, 228-pounder started all 38 games of his career at Penn State and totaled 8,457 passing yards on 693-of-1,235 passing with 48 touchdowns. He left school as the program's leader in completions, passing yards, passing touchdowns, 300-yard passing games (nine) and 200-yard passing games (21).

A native of Palmyra, Va., Hackenberg started all 13 games as a junior at Penn State in 2015, throwing for 2,525 yards and 16 touchdowns en route to being named the team's Most Valuable Offensive Player.

To make room on the roster, the Raiders have waived CB Senquez Golson.
