Carson City arrests: Woman booked for attempting to bring heroin and meth to state prisoner

A 40-year-old woman was arrested Friday for suspicion of furnishing a controlled substance to a state prisoner, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team booking report.
Melissa Deann Simcoe, of Sparks, was arrested after the discovery of methamphetamine and heroin and her admission to having the drugs and attempting to bring them to an inmate at Northern Nevada Correctional Center, according to the arrest report.
The booking report states a deputy with the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team was dispatched to the Northern Nevada Correctional Center on Snyder Avenue for a female visitor who allegedly attempted to introduce controlled substances in the facility during a visitation with an incarcerated inmate.
A SET deputy arrived at the prison and met with a NNCC's criminal inspector and learned the woman was observed dropping a clear plastic baggy with a crystal substance, a round object in black plastic and a condom from her person in the area of the visiting room. She was detained. The drugs were later determined to be methamphetamine and heroin.
A K9 conducted an exterior "sniff" of the vehicle she came in, with the dog alerting positive to a controlled substance concealed in the vehicle.
The woman was Mirandized and agreed to speak. She admitted she purchased methamphetamine and the round object, which contained heroin, from a person in Reno that she brought into the prison to give to an inmate. She admitted she had a meth pipe and meth in her vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle and located the pipe and additional methamphetamine.
Meth found on her person that she dropped was weighed at 4.3 grams, and 3.1 grams of heroin, the arrest report states. She was arrested. Bail: $20,000.
In other arrests:
A 44-year-old woman was arrested Saturday, 1:07 a.m. for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI. According to the booking report, a traffic stop was made on a vehicle that was driving without its headlights on.
Deputies made contact with the driver, who advised she had three drinks at a local bar. She agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment.
She provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .201. She was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail she conducted evidentiary breath tests with results of .147 and .141. She was also cited for driving without headlights. Bail: $1,209.
— A Carson City man, Allen Parkins, was arrested Friday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (heroin), parole violation and an alternative sentencing violation. Bail: $5,500. A 45-year-old man with him was arrested Friday for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant and suspicion of failure to maintain a lane with improper lane change and driving with an expired license plate. Bail: $616.
— A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested August 27 for suspicion of misdemeanor embezzlement. The woman is accused of stealing approximately $2,300 from a store in which she was a former employee. Bail: $1,137
— A 57-year-old man was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant issued by the gaming control board and for driving without a valid license. $1,292.
