Suspect charged with three armed robberies in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Officials have arrested a man accused of multiple armed robberies in Charlotte.

Phillip Leggett, 23, was arrested by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team July 10 after evidence led officials to identifying him as a suspect in three armed robberies dating back to May.

On July 1, officials say they responded to a Family Dollar located in the 1000 block of W. Sugar Creek Road in reference to an armed robbery. An employee told police that a white vehicle pulled up next to her in the parking lot and an armed male suspect exited the vehicle and pointed a gun at her.

A reported stated that the suspect proceeded to rob her of money and then fled in the white vehicle.

Leggett was also named as the suspect for an armed robbery May 26 and again June 8. The first robbery happened in the 3200 block of Eastway Drive and the second one in the 4900 block of Central Avenue.

Leggett was charged with one count of attempted armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy and three counts of conspiracy.
