Rodan and Fields is expanding its Recharge product collection with an all-new face mask with a buzzy main ingredient. Less than a year after launching four gel, clay, and cream masks that each address specific skin concerns, the brand has now introduced a Recharge Mask made with volcanic sand and charcoal to clean and detoxify the skin.

The mask, which officially rolled out on Jan. 23, has a thick and creamy consistency, and it uses the same technology as the Volcanic Sand Bath, a popular spa treatment known for its detoxifying and anti-inflammatory benefits. It's a form of heat therapy that requires participants bathe in hot sand with the promise of cleansing the skin. This marks the first time Rodan and Fields has ever used the ingredient in a product.

"We are constantly scouting for new technologies and ingredients that show higher efficacy, and complement and amplify our existing product and ingredient benefits," Sumita Butani, Rodan and Fields's VP of product development, told POPSUGAR. "Volcanic sand is a beneficial and efficacious exfoliator that has great synergy with charcoal to truly deliver on the immediate and long-term benefits of our Recharge Mask."

The volcanic sand and charcoal in the product work hand in hand to exfoliate and detoxify the skin while the mask's other ingredients like mango seed butter, coconut oil, and avocado oil restore moisture to keep the skin feeling smooth.

The Recharge Detox Mask ($60) is now available on the brand's website or through its consultants. Read on to see photos of the mask in use.
