NYPD: Suspect Wanted In Violent Queens Robbery
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Queens man says he was terrified when he was attacked and robbed at gunpoint inside his own home.
The incident, which happened around 3 a.m. last Saturday, was captured on 65-year-old Ashwani Khanna's home security camera.
Police said the suspect followed Khanna to his home, pushed the door open and pulled out a gun.
"He put a gun here and then he put me down here," Khanna told CBS2's Andrea Grymes.
The man then threw Khanna to the ground, punched him in the face numerous times and grabbed his wallet, police said.
"He said, 'give me all the money, give me the money,'" Khanna said.
Khanna believes the suspect followed him when he left a nearby birthday party in an Uber cab. He says as he struggled with the suspect, he yelled for his son inside.
"I was so terrified," he said. "Plus at the same time, I was so lucky as well. My son came out, he would have shoot at one of them."
Investigators said the suspect then fled the scene in a gray minivan with Khanna's wallet.
The NYPD describes the suspect as a black man between the ages of 25 and 30 with a mustache and a goatee. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweater, sweatpants and dark-colored sneakers.
Khanna said he was robbed another time just six weeks ago on his block and said $1,000 was stolen, Grymes reported. He says he has no idea why he's been targeted.
