Man Killed In Gunfire Exchange With Police, Officials Investigate

Dillwyn, VA. - Police are investigating the death of a man who was shot during a gunfire exchange with deputies in Dillwyn Thursday.

Jeremy Wayne Farley, 39, was killed at an apartment complex in Dillwyn Thursday night.

Two Buckingham County deputies responded to a domestic call shortly before 7 p.m. at a residence off Slate River Mill Road.

Police say when the deputies arrived at the residence, a confrontation took place between the man and the deputies and there was an exchange of gunfire.

They say the man was shot and died at the scene.

A bullet hit a deputy's radio, but the deputies were not injured.

Virginia State Police are investigating the shooting at the request of the Buckingham County Sheriff's Office.
