Fatal Wreck at Dumfries Road Intersection

One of the drivers in the 2-vehicle wreck died at an area hospital, according to Prince William County Police.

MANASSAS, VA — One person died following a crash in the Dumfries Road area Wednesday night, according to Prince William County Police.

Rodney James Wells, 69, of Manassas, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

At 9:14 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the area of Dumfries Road and Cobb Road regarding a crash.

According to investigators, Wells was driving a 2000 Toyota Echo and was on Cobb Drive attempting to cross Dumfries road when his vehicle collided with a 2007 BMW X5.

The other driver, a 20-year-old Manassas resident, was not injured.

The investigation continues. According to police, it is unknown at this time if speed, alcohol, and drugs are factors.
