Prep volleyball roundup: Malina Ama helps No. 3 Mt. Spokane sweep Shadle Park to stay undefeated in league

Mt. Spokane def. Shadle Park (25-6, 25-8, 25-11): Malina Ama recorded eight kills and the first-place Wildcats (8-0) swept the visiting Highlanders (0-8) to stay undefeated in Greater Spokane League play on Tuesday.

Marli Krantz had 12 assists and Taylor Miche added 12 digs for Mt. Spokane, which is ranked third in state 3A by the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association.

Mead def. Central Valley (25-23, 25-16, 25-23): Allie Flynn had 49 assists and the Panthers (6-2) swept the visiting Bears (3-5). Nicole Bantilan added 15 kills while Katherine McEuen had 18 digs.

Gonzaga Prep def. Lewis and Clark (25-13, 29-27, 25-9): Katherine Steilen had 16 assists while Maddie Davies made seven blocks and the visiting Bulldogs (6-2) swept the Tigers (5-3).

University def. Ferris (25-22, 25-16, 25-23): Lauren Fleury recorded 12 kills and the Titans (6-2) swept the visiting Saxons (4-4).

North Central def. Rogers (25-19, 19-25, 25-23, 25-22): Katie Allbery had six kills with three blocks and the Indians (2-6) defeated the visiting Pirates (0-8). Lidiya Pankova led Rogers in kills (8), assists (9), aces (6) and digs (22).

Great Northern

Pullman def. East Valley (25-9, 25-19, 25-12): Mikayla Uhlenkott had 11 kills with 16 digs and the visiting, No. 1-ranked Greyhounds (9-1) swept the Knights (7-2).

Clarkston def. Cheney (26-24, 20-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-6: Eva Millan had 20 kills and four aces with 19 digs and the visiting Bantams (6-4) defeated the Blackhawks (3-8). Avery Stark led Cheney with 12 kills, 20 digs and three blocks.

Northeast A

Freeman def. Deer Park (25-10, 25-10, 25-6): Eva Knight recorded 13 kills and the visiting fourth-ranked Scotties (10-1) swept the Stags (3-8). Justis Wells had 14 assists and Rhea Jansen added 10 digs for Freeman, which tied idle Lakeside for first place in the league with one match remaining.

Newport def. Riverside (25-22, 25-16, 15-25, 12-25, 15-10): Cora Pelleberg had seven kills with eight aces and the visiting Grizzlies (4-7) defeated the Rams (2-10). Livvie Winkle had 11 kills for Riverside.

Colville def. Medical Lake (25-21, 25-13, 25-14): Brooke Stutzer notched 10 kills and the Indians (8-3) swept the visiting Cardinals (2-9).

Northeast 2B

Northwest Christian def. St. George’s (25-10, 25-8, 25-7): Paige Dawson recorded seven kills with 12 aces and the third-ranked Crusaders (9-1) swept the visiting Dragons (0-10).

Colfax def. Asotin (25-18, 25-17, 25-10): Madi Cox dished out 13 assists and the fourth-ranked Bulldogs (8-1) downed the visiting Panthers (6-4). Kylie Kackman had eight kills, Anni Cox added 13 digs and Kennedy Schmidt had four aces.

Chewelah def. Kettle Falls (25-13, 25-14, 25-10): Haven Rainer had nine kills and the visiting Cougars (8-2) swept the Bulldogs (2-8).

Northeast 1B

Valley Christian def. Harrington (25-3, 25-8, 25-8)

Southeast 1B

Pomeroy def. Colton (25-17, 21-25, 25-16, 25-20): Deana Caruso collected 14 kills and the visiting Pirates (9-1) downed the Wildcats (5-5) in four sets. Sydney Smith had 16 assists, Sydney Watko had 12 blocks and Carmen Gingerich led in digs with 17. Emily Schultheis had 14 kills with 13 blocks for Colton.

St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse def. Garfield-Palouse (25-10, 25-12, 25-19): Ashlynn Archer registered 11 kills with nine aces and the visiting Eagles (6-5) swept the Vikings (1-11).

Idaho

Lake City def. Lewiston (25-11, 25-16, 25-11): Reilley Chapman had three aces with 15 digs and the top-seeded Timberwolves (15-0) swept the visiting, third-seeded Bengals (1-6) in the Idaho 5A District 1-2 championship. Ashley Kaufman had nine kills and Klaire Mitchell added 16 assists.

Coeur d’Alene def. Post Falls (25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 25-16): Kelly Horning had 16 kills with six blocks and the Vikings (8-4) topped the visiting fourth-seeded Trojans (7-9) in four sets in an Idaho 5A District 1-2 loser-out. Coeur d’Alene will host Lewiston in a loser-out on Thursday. Sarah Wilkey added 10 kills and 12 digs while Lauren Phillips had 17 assists with six aces.

Timberlake def. Coeur d’Alene Charter (25-18, 22-25, 25-13, 25-12): Ashlyn Mallet registered 13 kills and the top-seeded Tigers (12-2) topped the the fifth-seeded Panthers (3-7) in four sets in an Idaho 3A District 1 first round at Timberlake HS.

Orofino def. Grangeville (25-9, 25-23, 21-25, 25-12): Clara Peterson finished with 20 kills and the second-seeded Maniacs (5-3) beat the third-seeded Bulldogs (2-7) in four sets in an Idaho 2A District 1-2 first round at Genesee HS.

St. Maries def. Grangeville (25-15, 25-11, 25-11): Dakotah Wilks dished up 30 assists and the top-seeded Lumberjacks (8-4) downed the visiting Bulldogs (2-8) in an Idaho 2A District 1-2 first round at Genesee HS.
