For the third consecutive day, Notre Dame added a four-star player to its 2019 recruiting class.

Defensive lineman Howard Cross III announced his oral commitment Sunday on Twitter.

“I am extremely happy and excited to announce that I have committed to the University of Notre Dame,” Cross wrote. “Thank you Coach Kelly and the staff of Notre Dame.”

Cross is the sixth member of Notre Dame’s 2019 recruiting class. Friday, four-star offensive lineman John Olmstead orally committed. The next day, four-star safety Litchfield Ajavon joined the list.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Cross is from St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, N.J. He is the No. 246 recruit nationally, the No. 19 strong-side defensive end and No. 5 prospect in New Jersey in 247sports.com’s 2019 composite rankings.

Boston College, Duke and Virginia Tech were reportedly among the other schools that made an offer to Cross, whose father is a former tight end for the New York Giants.
