Man sentenced in 2012 armed storming of school

REMLAP — An Alabama man convicted of storming a school and trying to take a car from a parent at gunpoint has been sentenced to more than two decades in prison.

Media outlets report 47-year-old Carlton Bruce Murray II was sentenced Wednesday after being convicted in February on charges related to the 2012 incident at Southeastern School.

Authorities said the Blount County man reportedly assaulted and threatened his wife, fled to Birmingham, stole a gun from his co-worker and drove to Remlap. As he fled from Jefferson County sheriff's deputies, his car broke down in front of the school. He fled again after the attempted carjacking, and was later caught.

Murray received one 22-year sentence and three 10-year sentences to be served concurrently. He was fined $10,000 and ordered to pay court costs.
