Upcoming Food Drive To Support Kennesaw Students

Fans who donate five canned goods at the April 22 baseball game will receive three free tickets to the May 3 game against Liberty.

KENNESAW, GA -- Kennesaw State Athletics and Fifth Third Bank are partnering to host a food drive to benefit C.A.R.E., an on-campus organization that offers support to students who have experienced homelessness, food insecurity or the foster care system. In 2017, more than 9 percent of KSU students experienced some form of homelessness, and 36 percent of that were food insecure.

Fans who donate five canned goods or non-perishable food items on April 22 against Georgia Statewill receive three free tickets to the May 3 KSU baseball game against Liberty. First pitch between the Owls and the Flames is set for 6 p.m.

The food drive supports Fifth Third Bank’s annual “Feeding Our Communities” initiative, which works to provide one million meals to fight hunger in the bank’s 10-state footprint in the month of May. Last year, Fifth Third Bank Georgia employees provided more than 34,500 meals and volunteered nearly 100 hours to help feed families in the metro Atlanta area.

Attendees are welcome to bring any non-perishable item, but the following items are requested from C.A.R.E.:

  • Jelly
  • Pasta sauce
  • Canned tomatoes
  • Instant potatoes
  • Rice
  • Juice/water
  • Cereal
