One Jacksonville man wasn't planning on turning $20 into $1 million, but that's exactly what he did at a Circle K on Jacksonville's Westside.
On Friday the Florida Lottery announced that Llewelyn Phillips, 50, of Jacksonville, claimed a $1 million prize from the $20 Gold Rush Scratch-Off game. Although he won the $1 million, he chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $710,000.00.
Phillips purchased his winning ticket from Circle K, located at 2688 Old Middleburg Road in Jacksonville. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.
The $20 GOLD RUSH CLASSIC game launched in October 2018 and gives players the opportunity to win up to $5,000,000. Overall odds of winning are one-in-2.99.
The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $35 billion to education and sending more than 808,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.
