Their marriage is often scrutinized in the press and falls victim to countless stories about infidelity and other problems, but Keith Urban knows that a life without Nicole Kidman would have likely been very different for him.

Nicole Kidman Admits She Couldn't Be A Stay-At-Home Mom

In a new interview with The Boot, Urban dished about how his wife of nearly 10 years is the person he credits with getting him out of the rut he had been in before, which included major issues with addiction that time in treatment centers couldn't cure him of--until his wife literally saved his life.

"[She's] the one I've been looking for and the one I've been preparing for, or life has been preparing me for, anyway," he said. "We got married, and I hadn't taken care of my problems, and so my demons just came and kicked my a** and her a** and blew our world up. But this woman rallied the troops...".

Urban admitted that Kidman helped get him into rehab just a  few months after their wedding, but it was the very thing that helped him finally kick his bad habits for good, because he saw that she loved him enough to care and believe he could be better.

"In so many ways, it was the most powerful act of love in reaching into the fire and pulling me out," he said. "Because she believed in me, and she saw something in me in such a way that she risked everything, everything, to trust me and pull me out of the fire and let me then do the right thing and move into the light.

Urban also admitted that before Kidman came into his life, he didn't really know what it meant to genuinely love someone and want to be with them forever.

"I'm blessed that my mom and dad stayed together their whole life...I've seen that you can stay together and find your great love," he said. "I didn't know s**t about it until I met my wife. I didn't know anything about love. I didn't know anything about marriage. I didn't know anything about self-sacrifice. I didn't know anything about taking care of a woman. Nothing...I didn't have relationships; I took hostages."
