HARPERSVILLE, AL (WBRC) - A new community center is now open in Harpersville.

Harpersville Mayor Don Greene says he can’t wait to show off the very first community center for their town.

Inside you will find a space large enough for 300 people, a kitchen, restrooms, and a community storm shelter. The town plans to host several events here. Folks will also be able to rent it out for birthday parties, weddings, or family reunions.

“Everybody was amazed and excited about that. We have people just passing by from out of the community that will stop and say well we have heard about this (the community center) and we just wanted to see it,” he explains.

The official grand opening will be after the holidays but some events have already been held at the center.
