MIDDLEBORO — Carolann Solebello, with Kristen Graves opening for her, kicks off the Soule Homestead's annual Summer Concert Series this Saturday night.

The 2016 Summer Concert Series continues for six weeks, every Saturday evening through Aug. 20, at the Soule Homestead Education Center, 46 Soule St. in East Middleboro.

Most familiar to folk audiences as a founding member of Red Molly, Carolann Solebello returned to solo performance in August 2010 after six years of national touring and three full-length Red Molly CDs. As a solo artist, Carolann has recorded four CDs, including 2013's Steel and Salt, and is carving out a rich and varied career as a singer-songwriter and as one-fourth of quartet No Fuss and Feathers Roadshow.  Carolann won the 2011 Susquehanna Music and Arts Festival Songwriting Competition, placed third in the 2014 SolarFest Songwriting Competition, and was a 2012 Official Showcase Artist at both the FAI and NERFA conferences.

Kristen Graves is a folk/pop singer, songwriter and humanitarian. Mentioned by both Rolling Stone and the New York Times, and given her own day across the state of Connecticut by Governor Malloy for her musicianship and activism, she has shared stages with Pete Seeger, Peter Yarrow, Rusted Root, Holly Near, Dar Williams, Guy Davis, Dan Zanes, David Amram and many more. Her latest album "Now Ain’t the Time for Tears" is available on iTunes.

Concertgoers are invited to bring a blanket or chair, pack a picnic dinner and listen to live acoustic music in a beautiful and family friendly setting. All shows start at 6 p.m., rain or shine, moving into the classroom attached to the barn in the case of rainy weather.

The musicians appearing during this summer's concert series will include some favorites of Homestead concert-goers as well as some newcomers. The schedule includes Riley Coyote with The Nameless Trio on July 23; Cold Chocolate with Lisa Bastoni on July 30; The Squeezebox Stompers with Tom Irving on Aug. 6; Pesky J. Nixon with Beth DeSombre on Aug. 13; and Chief Noda with Emily Mure on Aug. 20.

Admission is $10 for adults, under 16 free. Snacks are also available for sale and children are welcome and encouraged. Alcohol and dogs are not allowed. For more information on the Homestead and its programs visit www.soulehomestead.org.
