Tips and picks

Tip of the week: Keep up to date on Microsoft’s Android apps

While most know that Microsoft makes a ton of great Android apps, you probably don’t know that it also provides a way to keep up-to-date on its Android app innovations.

AdDuplex mobile app pick of the week: Unstream

Unstream is an unofficial Twitch.tv application for the Universal Windows Platform, so it works on both PCs and Mobile.

Plus: Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition arrives on Windows 10

Plus: Microsoft Word Flow Keyboard for iPhone is Now Available

Plus, a reader recommendation from Ron Harding: Navmii – the awesome free voice guided navigation app for Windows/phone (and Android, iPhone and Blackberry too)

Enterprise pick of the week: Windows Server 2016 TP5

The final public tech preview of Windows Server 2016 is out, as is the last System Center 2016 TP. Next stop for both: RTM and GA in Q3 2016

Codename pick of the week: Drawbridge

The Windows Subsystem for Linux in Win 10  includes pico provider drivers emulate a Linux kernel and pico processes that host the unmodified user mode Linux, like Bash. Where did all this pico stuff come from? Drawbridge is/was a MS Research project dating back to 2011 (or maybe earlier) that was an adaptation of the Library OS concept.

Beer pick of the week: Millstone Cellars Gingeroot

A cider pick this week. Anything you see from Millstone Cellars – try it! The Gingeroot is really gingery. Dry, not sweet. Would be great for pairing with foods, sushi, oysters. …http://www.millstonecellars.com/ in Monkton, MD Gingeroot version: http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/millstone-cellars-gingeroot-cider/224879/
