FilmRise has acquired U.S. distribution rights to ballet documentary Reset.
The film centers on dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied, who is best known as the man behind the ballet of Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan (2010).
Millepied was appointed the director of the Paris Opera Ballet in 2014; the doc focuses on him staging his premiere ballet, from rehearsal to opening night.
Reset, which made its North American premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, was directed by Thierry Demaiziere and Alban Teurlai and produced by Stephanie Schorter.
“It is with great pleasure that we announce our acquisition of Reset ahead of its North American premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival,” FilmRise CEO Danny Fisher said in a statement. “With masterful filmmaking that mirrors the artistry of its subject, we are confident the film will win over audiences and critics alike when it comes to theaters this fall.”
The deal was negotiated by Upside Distribution on behalf of the filmmakers.
