Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office is the among a new batch of lip sync challenge videos in North Carolina. Here's how to watch it.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Queen City, brace yourself. Recently released video footage reveals the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office is filled with greasers, and some of them have jazz hands.

Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office released its “Grease” themed lip sync challenge video Tuesday, joining the ranks of other North Carolina law enforcement agencies, such as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Mooresville Police Department, as well as the Winston-Salem Police Department.

For the video, Mecklenburg County Sheriff Irwin Carmichael and company channeled the halls of Rydell High in a toe-tappin’ homage to the 1978 film, “Grease.” Deputies, dispatchers, and a four-legged partner of the K-9 team were in on the dancing and lip syncing. Carmichael even flips — or more specifically, tumbled head over heels — for the video.

For more than a month, law enforcement agencies around the country have been challenging one another to a lip sync battle in what's turned out to be a fun exercise not just for them but observers as well. The videos have shown a softer side to police.

Recently, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department showcased its moves with the feel good pop song “Can't Stop The Feeling!" by Justin Timberlake, while Winston-Salem went straight to the club, relying on some of the best hip-hop standards to get officers moving. It’s all there, from DJ Kool’s “Let Me Clear My Throat,” Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It,” Nelly’s “Hot In Here,” and North Carolina’s own Petey Pablo’s “Raise Up,” WSPD officers twerk, grind and put a completely new spin on morning roll call and the doughnut run.
