All 4, the OTT platform for UK broadcaster Channel 4, has commissioned a docuseries on prison tattoo culture from London and Los Angeles-based prodco Studio Lambert.
Tentatively titled Sketch’s Prison Ink, the 8 x 11-minute obdoc follows Tattoo Fixers tattoo artist Sketch as he explores prison tattoo practices by meeting with prison guards, prison tattooists and individuals who received tattoos while serving time.
The series launches with a conversation between Sketch and his father, whose prison tattoos were among Sketch’s first cover ups.
“We’re delighted to bring this series to the All 4 audience, exploring tattoos and their relationships with prisons,” said Tim Harcourt, Studio Lambert’s creative director, in a statement. “This impactful format takes the viewer inside a fascinating world, rarely caught on camera and I am pleased to report that these two popular television subject matters, tattoos and prisons, are able to reveal a lot about each other.”
The series was ordered by Channel 4 commissioning editor Thom Gulseven and All 4 editor Daisy Mount. Executive producers are Jack Burgess and Matt J. Smith. Niall O’Driscoll is the series producer for Studio Lambert.
Tattoo Fixers, which spotlights cover ups implemented by the series’ cast of tattoo artists, is entering its fourth season this fall.
