Why?
Can a beloved album keep its edge when it is converted into that often gloopiest of theatrical feasts, the jukebox musical? While the West End plays host to shows plying the works of mainstream megastars of yesteryear such as Meat Loaf, Tina Turner and Abba, the Canadian singer Alanis Morissette is about to get the same treatment with a show based on her breakthrough album Jagged Little Pill. If it goes down well in its run in Cambridge, Massachusetts, it will surely be Broadway next, London to follow.

Although none of Morissette’s subsequent albums caused the same stir, it’s important to remember just how big a deal Jagged Little Pill was when it was released in 1995, at the tail end of grunge.
