    Local roundup: Ouimette sparks unbeaten Conn College to victory

    Bristol, R.I. — The Connecticut College women's basketball team remained undefeated by beating Roger Williams 85-71 in a nonleague game on Tuesday night.

    Payton Ouimette led the Camels with 21 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and four assists. Kylie Caouette had 16 points, Liz Malman scored 14 and Natalia Baum came off the bench to score 13 for Conn (3-0).

    In other games:

    • Carynn Bartolucci had 22 points and Briana Padewski scored 20 as UConn-Avery Point beat Holyoke Community College, 76-66. East Lyme's Bartolucci also had 10 rebounds and six assists and Padewski had nine rebounds and four steals for the Pointers (4-3).

    Men's basketball

    • UConn-Avery Point lost to Holyoke Community College, 103-85. Aaron Lorenzo and Tom Hendrickson scored 19 points each for the Pointers (1-7).

    Men's hockey

    • Colby Lanceleve scored 26 seconds into overtime, leading Plymouth State to a 4-3 win over Conn College in a nonleague game. Joe Birmingham, Tim DiPretoro and Cory Swift scored goals and Joe Giordano had two assists for Conn (0-2-1).  

    H.S. girls' soccer

    • CIAC Class S co-champion Old Lyme finished tied for second in the final Class M/S Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association poll. Class M champion Northwest Catholic finished first, receiving all 10 first-place votes. Old Lyme was tied with Class M runnerup Enfield for second. Waterford finished ninth.

    Road racing

    • The second annual Niantic Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Brian T. Dagle Memorial Foundation will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. Race day check-in and registration will be from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at McCooks Beach Park. The race will take place along the shoreline, loop back around and finish at the parking lot of McCooks.

    Adult registration is $30 and children's registration is $20. All proceeds will benefit the foundation, whose mission is to promote hope and healing for people who are grieving through support services, education and resources.
