The study by Churchill car insurance found one in four motorists had experienced some form of deliberate vandalism to their precious motor.

AB11 in Aberdeen, covering Torry and parts of the city centre, follows as a vandalism hot spot.

Bristol, Canary Wharf in London, Basingstoke, Maidstone and Southampton complete the list.

Tips to help deter vehicle vandals

  • Park smart – make use of your driveway or garage, and if these aren’t available, be sure to park in a well-lit place
  • Good neighbours – Get to know those around you, as neighbours can keep an eye out on your property if you’re away, or alert you if they see anything suspicious
  • CCTV - This works as a deterrent and could assist in identifying and bringing the perpetrator to justice.

Despite the upset of having a car vandalised, a shocking 19 per cent said they wouldn't mind seeing celebs have to deal with getting a scratched door or smashed window.

Katie Hopkins and Piers Morgan were voted top of the hit list with 15 per cent of Brits desperate to see their cars damaged.

Jeremy Corbyn came in third with 12 per cent, while Jeremy Clarkson and the Prime Minister drew even on 11 per cent.

Unpopular votes also went to singer Lily Allen (5%), TOWIE star Gemma Collins (4%) and Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho (3%).

Steve Barrett, head of Churchill car insurance said: "This research proves that there isn’t a stereotypical area for vehicle vandalism and that it could happen anywhere.

"We want to highlight the top ten areas in order to raise awareness of the issue and to urge local law enforcement agencies to take further action to clamp down on vehicle vandalism.

"Whether an ex-partner or unpopular celebrity, we want to be clear that there is never a good excuse to vandalise the property of another.

"Whilst some may view vehicle vandalism as petty crime, the impact on victims can be considerable.

"This is why Churchill introduced its vandalism promise, so that if customers do need to make a claim, it won’t affect their no claim discount."
