James Louis Ewbank

1937-2018

James Louis Ewbank, 80, passed away February 17, 2018 at home surrounded by family.

He lived a full life while cheerfully and bravely fighting cancer. He grew up in Warsaw, Ky, son of the late W. Ryle and Mable Gaines Ewbank. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Wilma Ellis Ewbank. They raised their family in the Oxford community in Scott County. 

He is survived by his brother, Robert “Bob” Ewbank (Elsie); daughters Lourrae Ewbank (Neil Myers), Anne Milburn (Rob); and granddaughter, Remy Milburn. 

He was a graduate of University of Kentucky and a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He served in the Army in Korea. He retired from Farmers Bank and Trust Co in Georgetown, Ky after 33 years. He was very active in the Scott County Kiwanis Club and later participated in the Danville/Boyle County Kiwanis Club. He assisted Wilma in her antique shop, later doing 10-12 antique shows yearly. He was an active member of Oxford Christian Church for many years and later joined First Christian Church in Danville. 

He is also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Katherine LeGrand, Jean Pryor, and Eloise James. 

Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Pusateri and Rev. Eddie Parker officiating. Burial in Elder Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 5-8 p.m.
