Love & Hip Hop creator and executive producer Mona Scott-Young has secured an overall pact with Santa Monica-headquartered entertainment firm Lionsgate.
Under terms of the deal, Scott-Young will develop and produce unscripted content for the company’s alternative television business via her multi-media entertainment company Monami Entertainment. She will additionally have the opportunity to develop projects across Lionsgate’s scripted, digital and other businesses.
Scott-Young serves as creator and EP for VH1’s smash reality franchise Love & Hip Hop, which initially launched in March 2011. The original series, based in New York, is now in its ninth season for the Viacom lifestyle network and has spun off multiple iterations of the show, including Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood and Love & Hip Hop: Miami.
In addition, Scott-Young is a veteran talent manager, having managed hip-hop icon Missy Elliott for more than 20 years. She is also co-owner of moscato brand MYX Fusions with partner Nicki Minaj, and formerly served as co-owner of management company Violator.
Scott-Young is represented by TCA Mgmt, UTA, and Darin Frank of Sloane Offer Weber and Dern.
“Mona is a talent magnet who has established remarkable relationships in the entertainment industry and created one of TV’s biggest reality franchises,” said Lionsgate EVP and head of worldwide alternative programming Jennifer O’Connell in a statement. “We look forward to collaborating on exciting content for our alternative programming slate and can’t wait to kick off our partnership.”
