The actor formerly known as Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire, has been cast in “Labor Day,” the Jason Reitman movie starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin that’s been filming around Shelburne and Medway. The movie, which is based on the book by Joyce Maynard, is about a mother and son who develop a close relationship with a convict. According to Deadline.com, which broke the casting news on Wednesday, Maguire will play the adult version of the son. No word on whether he’ll have to come to Massachusetts to film his scenes. Maguire’s next big films to hit theaters will be “The Details,” in which he costars with Pittsfield’s Elizabeth Banks, and Baz Luhrmann’s reimagining of “The Great Gatsby” with Leonardo DiCaprio.
