Though he’s known for his mature content with his ABC late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel’s debut literary offering is for a much younger audience.

The popular television personality wrote, illustrated and lettered a 40-page tome for tykes.

Published by Random House this week, “The Serious Goose,” is inspired by Kimmel’s nickname for his now 5-year-old daughter, Jane, and is described as a “delightful read-aloud guaranteed to create gaggles of giggles time and time again.”

What’s even more special is that proceeds from the picture book will go to a charitable cause close to his heart.

“I wanted to do something to make a big donation to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles…[and]…other children’s hospitals,” Kimmel, 52, told People magazine.

“This will be a hefty sum…And it seemed like the least I could do after they saved my son’s life two different times.”

His 21/2-year old son Billy underwent two heart surgeries ? one when he was just 3 days old, and another when he was 7 months old ? after he was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition called tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia shortly after birth.

Kimmel said that Billy is “doing great” and that he and his big sister Jane ? both of whom he shares with his wife Molly McNearney, 41 ? love reading the book with their dad.
