Northbrook synchronized skating team going to Junior World championship

Teams Elite Junior, the Northbrook Park District's synchronized skating team, has been selected to compete in the World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships March 13-14 in Nottingham, U.K. The team includes members from Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove and Prospect Heights.

All eight of the district's synchronized skating teams will perform an exhibition from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Northbrook Sports Center, 1730 Pfingsten Road, during "Celebrate the Season."

Teams Elite Junior returned this week with a silver medal after the Spring Cup in Milan, Italy. They will represent Team USA in the 2020 International Skating Union event in Nottingham. Earlier this year, Teams Elite Junior placed fifth overall at the French Cup in Rouen, France.

"To skate with such precision requires an impressive level of concentration, teamwork and trust as you complete these complicated maneuvers in sync with 15 other skaters," said Eileen Loftus, Director of the Recreation Division. "Behind the grace and beauty Teams Elite displays on the ice is a lot of hard work, skill and discipline."
