Teacher at St. Joseph Academy in Cleveland accused of sexual misconduct with students

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A teacher at St. Joseph Academy in Cleveland has been placed on leave after administrators were informed that he may have had a sexual relationship with former students, according to a message posted on the school's Web site Sunday.

The teacher, and another who resigned after admitting that he had known about the alleged sexual misconduct, have not been named.

In a letter to parents, the school said it has turned the matter over to police, and was "outraged and saddened to learn that someone on our faculty may have taken advantage of his position to harm our girls -- and simply aghast that another faculty member had knowledge about this and failed to properly and immediately report it to us."

St. Joseph is an all-girls Catholic high school on Rocky River Drive.

No further information was available from police.
