Fairfax County Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man wanted for exposing himself to a teenager in Springfield.

On Wednesday, investigators released a new composite sketch of the suspect. Then they canvassed the neighborhood where it happened, hoping someone might be able to help identify him.

"We have no leads at this point. So we don't know if this person lives in this neighborhood, was a guest of someone in this neighborhood, or possibly that this person maybe is a homeless individual," said Sgt. Aaron Pfeiff with the Fairfax County Police Department.

The incident happened on August 4, as a teenage girl was playing soccer on a field on Northumberland Road.

Investigators say it was just before 8 p.m. when a man approached the girl from behind, touched her inappropriately, and then exposed himself.

Police say the victim was not injured, and the man ran away when she screamed. He's described as a white male in his 30's with long brown hair.

Investigators worked with the victim to develop the composite sketch that was released on Wednesday.

"It kind of made me a little weary," said neighbor Sandra Wolfford. "It's unfortunate. Hopefully they'll catch him soon."

The soccer field where the incident took place is also less than half a mile from Saratoga Elementary, where students are set to return to school in just a few weeks.

"I'll be more careful from now on," said neighbor Carolina Lalinde, who often walks through that area with her young daughter. "There are a lot of kids around here."

.If you have any information about the incident or recognize the man in the police sketch, contact the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800.
