A fire in Milford Township tore through a 21/2 story barn on a farm property Sunday night, keeping fire companies from Bucks and Montgomery counties busy for several hours.

Bruce Auckland said a relative, Dale Auckland, owns the barn at 2295 Milford Square Pike. He said the fire gutted the approximately 3,000-square-foot building and its contents, which included some older farm equipment.

Bruce Auckland owns and operates Auckland Produce on the property, but he said the fire did not affect his wholesale fruits and vegetable business or ability to fill customer orders.

He said fire officials did not immediately determine the cause of the fire, but an investigation is under way.

The fire broke out around 6:30 p.m.

According to emergency radio dispatches, firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire conditions. Firefighters kept it from spreading to other buildings and brought the fire under control after about an hour.
