Documentary ‘Memory: The Origins Of Alien’ Will Tell the Untold Stories of Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien’

You’ve watched the various home video special features, but the upcoming doc Memory: The Origins Of Alien promises to tell you stories you’ve never heard and show you things you’ve never seen, Screen Daily reports. Paris-based Indie Sales just launched worldwide sales talks on the documentary out of TIFF, from director Alexandre O. Philippe (78/52).

The filmmakers said Memory – The Origins Of Alien will reveal previously unseen materials from the archives of writer Dan O’Bannon and designer H.R. Giger, including story notes, drawings, designs, behind-the-scenes footage, and O’Bannon’s original 29-page Memory script from 1971. Philippe and Exhibit A Pictures have also conducted interviews of the film’s cast and crew, and relatives of O’Bannon and Giger.”

The doc was shot in 4K resolution, and is planned for early 2019 release to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of Ridley Scott’s horror/sci-fi masterpiece, Alien.

‘Drop’ – Violett Beane Joins the Cast of Christopher Landon’s New Thriller

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
