MyWorkpapers integrates accounting and practice software

An Australian company has developed a software-agnostic approach to connecting bookkeeping applications with accountancy practice systems.

Software designed to help small businesses collaborate with their bookkeepers and accountants have benefits for both parties. As we’ve reported previously, for example, a Melbourne business and a regional Victorian accountant have sung the praises of the MYOB Portal secure document sharing and signing system.

But you don't have to use a service that's directly associated with your chosen accounting software. MyWorkpapers Connect is designed to link most business bookkeeping software – including MYOB, QuickBooks and Xero – with accounting practice software.

Its focus is on helping accountants manage their monthly client work as well as year-end compliance.

Benefits to accountancy practices, bookkeepers and businesses are said to include faster and more accurate work-paper generation and financial verification, significant administrative time-savings and access to actionable business intelligence.

"Clients quite simply save time with our new Connect platform whether an accountant, bookkeeper or an individual business has shared and easy access to financial records, workflow and day-to-day task management that makes sense of the monthly numbers," said Anton Donde, executive director of the platform's Australian developer, MyWorkpapers.

"Whether it's chasing debtors, managing cash-flow or having the insight to make critical decisions on future strategy, finance professionals now have the tools to help their businesses perform better."

This is achieved in part by helping advisors set up and monitor to-do lists to help ensure their clients are doing the right things at the right time.

And by reviewing figures, managing queries and assigning tasks on a daily basis, year-end work is simplified for both parties. That is one of the advantages of cloud accounting software, but MyWorkpapers Connect achieves that end without requiring businesses to use the system favoured by their accountants.

Prices start at $US9 per month for two users. Yes, that is US dollars, even though MyWorkpapers is an Australian company. It’s clearly going after the international market too.
