NYC Men Arrested With Cocaine On Thruway: Police
They were sent to the county jail without bail, police said.
NEW PALTZ, NY — Two New York City residents were accused of having more than a half pound of cocaine when they were stopped for a traffic violation. State police stopped a vehicle around 2:20 a.m. June 17 on I-87 in the Town of New Paltz and established probably cause to search the vehicle and its occupants.
The driver Santo E. Martinez, 56, and his passenger Carlos C. Nunez, 28, both from New York City, were found to be in possession of about 328.6 grams of cocaine, or about 0.72 pounds.
They were taken into custody and charged with the following:

- First-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony
Martinez was also charged with a vehicle and traffic violation.
The pair was arraigned in the Town of Plattekill Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail.
