HOLLYWOOD, CA (WABC) -- Tony Geary is back on "General Hospital" again after back surgery threatened his ability to return to the show.

Geary feared that the surgery might be so invasive that it would prevent him from being able to play "Luke Spencer" on the long running daytime soap.

But as fans of "GH" know he is back, and the star tells entertainment reporter Sandy Kenyon that he's "Gonna be O.K."

"Back surgery is always scary because you have to sort of learn to walk again. Your balance is off," Geary said.

The actor said he was "very fearful" that he'd no longer have the strength or vitality needed to play the role he has done for four decades on the show.

Geary met with Sandy Kenyon on the "General Hospital" set while Kenyon was making a brief appearance on the show as a guard. That episode will be broadcast on Monday, February 9th.

Tony Geary still does six to eight hours of physical therapy each week and he's grateful to his bosses for accommodating that schedule.

"General Hospital" can be seen on WABC-TV Channel 7 every weekday afternoon at 3 p.m.
