That's it from us folks! What a thrilling game we had and hope you enjoyed our coverage. Until next time then!

Here's what the players had to say:

Faf du Plessis: We needed it to keep the cup alive. I thought we bowled much better and kept them to a lower score. You always need someone to ensure that we do not collapse; quite the one we did not have yesterday. That's what Amla did, he was steady and took us through. Last night we were disappointed that we did not do well but am glad that we came back strong. I expect the third match to be in similar conditions and hope to continue the form.

Sarfraz Ahmed: We have to give credit to the World XI. Hashim bhai played beautifully. This is a learning opportunity for all of us, it will teach the bowlers how to bowl in tough situations to class players like Hash. We were a bit sloppy in the field and that cost us. Had the execution been better, we could have won this match. You should also have a slower length ball in your kitty apart from the yorkers.

Thisara Perera, Man of the Match: First of all it is an honour to be selected for the World XI side, it was my dream. Hash told me to stay till the end so that we could cash in. Normally I play similarly in situations for my country as well and this has become a habit now (finishing off games). Thanks to the Pakistani fans, they really cheered well for us.

It was delicious for the crowds that have poured in. To imagine that a few of them even left the stands when the spinners had a stranglehold on the proceedings of an obvious Pakistani victory should tell the story. The collapse towards the end in the first innings that meant a cool few runs short too would come back to haunt them. Malik's dropped catch would hurt. Some sloppy fielding would hurt. An over short for Nawaz could hurt. Either all that or Thisara Perera. Wait on, a sermon coming up.

PERERA THE STAR: After picking up 2 for 23 from his three overs, he's smashed 47 off 19 to seal a thrilling win.

ALL TOO EASY: Perera, 37 off 15, has brought the equation down to 13 off the last over.

40 off 16 now.

DU PLESSIS FALLS: The captain was looking to take the over aggressive approach and lobs a simple catch to extra cover. World XI 106 for 3 and need 69 off 36 now.

50 for AMLA: He gets there off 37 balls and is keeping World XI on track. The equation is much more manageable now. 77 needed off 40 now.

#PAKvWXI One must appreciate a good deed regardless of disagreements. Goodjob Najam Sethi & PCB. Good step to bring back intl crick to Pak.

PAINE FALLS: The ball keeps low from Wasim and knocks over the stumps. World XI 71 for 2 in the tenth over but have Amla going well. They'll need him to fire if they want to scale the target down. Du Plessis comes out to bat. 103 off 60 needed.

WICKET: First wicket for Pakistan and it goes to Sohail Khan. Not before the World XI side have got a brisk start. Tamim falls for 23. World XI 49 for 1 after the powerplay.

FLYING START: Tamim is in no mood to waste time. Gets World XI a brisk start as they canter to 30 for no loss after three

END OF INNINGS - Pakistan 174 for 6. Malik to the rescue again as he powers the team to a challenging total with a 23-ball 39. Du Plessis at the start had said he thought the track was a 180-run track. He'll be pretty pleased with the effort from the bowlers. Should be a cracking chase.

WICKETS: Imad Wasim falls with eight balls to go. Pakistan will be eyeing 180 and the captain walks out to bat. However, Sarfaraz falls for a golden duck and, surprisingly, Perera picks up his second wicket. Pakistan 157 for 5 after 19.

ONE MORE: Babar Azam falls this time trying to up the ante. Tries to go for the big one and is caught at long-on. Pakistan slip to 135 for 3 in the 17th over.

WICKET: Shehzad falls now. The scorecard will show 43 off 34 next to his name but it was a struggle for him. Hit towards long-on and Miller takes a good diving catch. Pakistan 100 for 2 in the 13th over.

10 overs done - Pakistan 78 for 1.The run rate has come down after the wicket of Zaman. Shahzad is 34 off 29 whole Babar has a run-a-ball 18.

Things have slowed down for Pakistan after the wicket. Shehzad is struggling and Babar is looking to get his eye in. 47 for 1 after seven overs. Thisara Perera comes in to bowl. Time for some runs ...

FIRST WICKET: Zaman tries an ugly whack and missed. Pinged plumb in front and given lbw. Badree gets the wicket. Pakistan 42 for 1 after five overs. Babar Azam walks out to bat.

Pakistan 35 for no loss after 4. It's quite windy out there. Bails are falling off, the cloth ahead of the sightscreen isn't staying in place and hence the players are being forced to slow things down.

Pakistan 16 for no loss after two. Shehzad is looking to settle in while Zaman wants to take the aggressive route. Badree to bowl the third over.

Alright then, Morkel to start, Zaman to face, Shehzad is with him and we are all set to rock and roll ...

Soon after the toss there were strong winds that threw things out of order for a while. The weather looks all fine now and we should have an on time start.

TOSS: Pakistan win toss and will bat first. Two changes for them. World XI have added an extra spinner today. Badree replaces Sammy while Collingwood also find a place in the side instead of Elliott.

Missed the clash last night? Here's Ahmer Naqvi's account who was at the venue.

And here's what Paul Collingwood had to say: "The last time I came to Pakistan, I understood that cricket in Pakistan is a religion. The passion and the atmosphere that you create in the ground is something special. I experienced that certainly in Karachi in 2005 and certainly tonight was a great start to, hopefully, a series that we can still win. So I am very much looking forward to playing in the game.

"I am very proud, I can tell you right now. I came out of the net session yesterday and it felt like I was playing international cricket again. That, to me, when I retired back in 2011 and to have that same feeling again, that anxiety and that intensity and all those things when you play for your country and they all come back again."

Hello and welcome to the live blog of the second T20I between Pakistan and World XI in Lahore. The hosts won the first contest by 20 runs. It was all festive in Lahore last night and folks don't expect anything different tonight as well. Cricket's back in Pakistan and the fans are keen to ensure they make it memorable.

Bharat R was bestowed with the opportunity to work on the game last night and here's what he had to say: "On March 3, 2009, 12 gunmen launched a deadly attack on the touring Sri Lankan team near the Gaddafi stadium, Lahore, resulting in injuries to Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Samaraweera and Tharanga Paravitarana. The attack left unimaginable scars on the minds of the Sri Lankan cricketers. It also led to Pakistan being [largely] deprived of playing cricket in their homeland due to security reasons.

"But there was always hope that that one day thousands of cricket fans across Pakistan could cheer their heroes in stadium. Hope is a gift that could take you through the caverns of darkness into the land of light. And for Pakistan's fans that everlasting hope of witnessing their cricketing heroes bore fruit when Peshawar Zalmi took on Quetta Gladiators in the PSL final in Lahore in March this year. Six months later, the Faf du Plessis-led World XI side locked horns against Pakistan in a three-match T20I series at the iconic Gadaffi stadium."
