OUR guest speaker this month was Kathy Butterworth.  This was not the first time that Kathy had come to visit our WI, she gave us a talk about her career as a travel rep in Greece a few years ago.

This time she gave us an interesting presentation on 10 things that she would save in a fire.

This talk is based on some of her most precious possessions from different eras. A Victorian figure, a 1950’s childhood plate, rings, a bag from India and a 1980’s Japanese print were just some of items she talked about.

Photos of these items were accompanied by stories about the lives of the people who gave them to her. She went on to talk about how our lives have changed during the different eras of the 20th Century.

A question and answer session followed with many members discussing their favourite objects and what they would save in a fire.

After refreshments Jean Mcfeggan gave a report to members from the annual council meeting held recently in Cheltenham. Details of the Coaley Vale Group meeting held this month and further information on our June outing was circulated.

The next WI meeting will be held on Thursday, May 10 at 7.30pm. Our guest speaker will be Steve Knibbs and he will be talking about reporting and magic.
