LSB Industries appoints new leadership

David Dishman

LSB Industries Inc. will be under new leadership after its chairman and CEO stepped down.

Dan Greenwell elected not to enter into a new employment agreement for his role as chairman and CEO, according to a statement from the company. Greenwell will be replaced by Mark Behrman, LSB's current executive vice president and chief financial officer. Behrman will serve as LSB's president and CEO and join its board.

“I'm excited to become the head of the company,” Behrman said in an interview with The Oklahoman. “I think it's a great opportunity with a company that has been around nearly 50 years.”

Oklahoma City-based LSB Industries manufactures and sells chemical products for the agricultural, mining and industrial markets.

Richard Roedel was appointed to fill the void as chairman, and LSB Vice President of Finance Cheryl Maguire was promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer.

“We are pleased to welcome Mark and Cheryl into their new roles as CEO and CFO, respectively,” Roedel said in a statement. “The board of directors has a strong focus on talent management, and the internal appointments of Mark and Cheryl demonstrate the strength of the existing team.”

Greenwell and Behrman both signed three-year contracts with the company at the end of 2015, Behrman said. Greenwell had been commuting from Sioux City, Iowa.

“Dan doesn't live in OKC and was commuting back and forth,” Behrman said. “I think that's a hard thing to do.

“I'm thankful to Dan for working with the board on a succession plan."

Roedel also said he is grateful for Greenwell's leadership over the past three years.

“He led many critical initiatives that have resulted in improved performance of the company's three facilities and have positioned LSB well for future improvement in profitability and cash flow,” Roedel said. “The board appreciates the progress LSB Industries has made under Dan, and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”
