A little party never killed nobody

The big trend is partying in. But some of us aren’t meant to live it up at home. Here’s what’s in store this season...
A little party never killed nobody

Disco 80s are back
Shiny clothes, sequinned shoes, glittery headbands, Travolta-swag et al. Jive on with your go-go boots and wild makeup. Swing to Boney M, Abba, before the ball drops. Have some statement balloons to create a fabulous party backdrop or a photo op area. Think Michael Jackson, Mithun da, and rhythms of The Glittery Decade.
Party Workouts
The latest fitness phenomenon sweeping the nation is the concept of workout as an exhilarating night party, in which fitness clubs host disco-lit classes of high-octane, boot-camp style routines set to pumping music by DJs.
While dancing and partying, you could have sweaty booty shaking sessions or iron-pumping and high speed cardiovascular exercise. These parties have an open door policy to anyone wearing sneakers and offer post-workout martinis! Yo, lazy bums, enticed enough?
Tried sober clubbing?
Oxymoron? Decide for yourself as this is a growing movement among adults seeking ‘healthy hedonism’. Wait, what? Apparently, ‘The Sobers’ are avenging decades of bullying for being that corner girl/guy, who could never be the centre of any party. Not anymore. This rapidly-rising trend has people partying completely sober. The clubs initiating this trend use breathalysers, and if you get a reading anywhere above 0.0, you won’t be allowed entry. Got it? Good. For the ones who don’t get it, just open that godda** bottle. Now!

When in ‘Roam’, live it up
A recurring dance party called ‘roam’ is taking dance culture ‘off the grid’. This is a pop-up nightclub, where revellers party in spacious warehouses which can accommodate bigger crowds, louder speakers and more DJs. It’s called ‘roam’ because the party doesn’t have a fixed address. A DC trend started by three DJs — they first partied in rowhouses before moving on to warehouses — this is a trend that’s caught on, especially in towns with huge warehouses. Or, places that can be turned into warehouses. These places are mostly outside town but not too far. The music begins around 9 in the evening and goes on all the way past sunrise. Attendance requires curiosity, enthusiasm, high energy. Roams are also relatively hush-hush. Shhh…
Flap it up!
Speakeasies can never really go out of style. The flappers and dappers, as the 1920s party circuit in America came to be known, has been a steady theme for parties since a century! Think The Great Gatsby… champagne, blues music, smoke in the air, rooms decorated with dark, rich fabrics, faux furs and velvet. This one isn’t a party unless it looks and feels lavish.
