STORY: Members of the Rugby World Cup winning South Africa team were greeted by a large crowd at OR Tambo airport in Johannesburg on Tuesday (November 5) after their arrival back from Japan.

The first group of Springboks to arrive back were given a huge welcome at the city's international airport.

South Africa defeated England 32-12 to win the World Cup for the third time on Saturday.

Wingers Makazole Mapimpi and Cheslin Kolbe crossed in the last 15 minutes for South Africa's first ever tries in a World Cup final but six penalties from the boot of Handre Pollard had already put the Springboks firmly in charge.

South African captain Siya Kolisi lifted the Webb Ellis trophy to spark wild celebrations in the stadium.
