Seth Rogen has weighed in on the pleasures of making new movie An American Pickle.

In this unique tale, the Superbad and Pineapple Express favourite portrays two different characters – a 1920s Jewish immigrant named Herschel and his great-grandson Ben.

Similar to Tom Hardy in Legend and Paul Rudd in Netflix series Living with Yourself, these dual roles offered the actor an incredible opportunity... to not rely on others at work.

In a candid interview, Rogen told Yahoo Entertainment: "I liked working with myself a lot more than I like working with most other actors, I can definitely say. I'm much more low maintenance. I'm a lot more punctual.

"I'm rarely on set waiting for myself to show up or emerge from my trailer or finish up a call with my manager or agent. I actually enjoy it."

"Other actors stress me out, to be totally honest," he confessed. "And I get nervous around other actors a lot of the time. So removing that I think was actually quite a pleasure."

Following 2016 animation Sausage Party, An American Pickle marks the second time Rogen has placed an emphasis on food in the title of a comedy.

Addressing this fact, he laughed: "I smoke weed all day every day and have for the past 20 years. So every creative decision you've ever seen me make throughout my entire life has been made after smoking weed."

An American Pickle is out now.
