Alan Thicke is honoured by Leonardo DiCaprio and more famous friends at memorial service

Television icon Alan Thicke had an all-star send off during his memorial service on Sunday (Dec. 18). More than 300 of the Growing Pains star's closest family and friends gathered at his home in Carpinteria, California near Santa Barbara, to honour Alan's life.

Rob Lowe, Bob Saget, Kris Jenner, Alex Trebek and Bill Mahr were a few of the famous faces who reminisced about their friend during the emotional service. Alan's wife Tanya Callau and his three sons, Brennan, Carter and Robin, who acted as MC during the service, were also in attendance.

Leonardo DiCaprio also took to the stage to pay tribute to Alan, alongside his Growing Pains co-stars Joanna Kerns, Kirk Cameron, Tracey Gold and Jeremy Miller.

During the touching service, guest were seated at various tables complete with place holders featuring quotes from the Hollywood veteran. Fellow Canadian Alex Trebek gave a speech about how the star helped him get his start in show business while Full House star Bob Saget delivered a comedy set in his late friend's honour. Alan's son Robin brought some levity to the event by doing impressions of his father and joking about the presence of all of his wives.

"I'm Alan Thicke and this is exactly the way I want to go out. ... I'd like to thank all of my ex-wives for coming," Robin, 39, joked in reference to his mother Gloria Loring and Gina Tolleson, both of whom were on hand to say goodbye.

Alan's Growing Pains co-stars were in attendance.

After the service, Alan's daughter-in-law Dolly took to her Facebook page to thank all of the attendees and share images from the ceremony. She wrote, "Tonight's memorial for Alan was just about perfect. So much family and so many historic friends came out to remember our beloved father-figure."

Alan passed away on Dec. 13 at the age of 69 after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with his youngest son Carter.
