ABILENE — A Solomon man piloting a small plane was forced to make an emergency landing Wednesday when his plane started running out of fuel.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, John A. Wolesky, 77 of Solomon, was piloting his Fixed Wing Piper aircraft over Dickinson County when he began running out of fuel at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Wolesky managed to make a successful emergency landing at 1001 N. Van Buren in Abilene.

Wolesky, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured, the report said.

A longtime pilot, Wolesky also is a priest at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Solomon and serves as a chaplain at Salina Regional Health Center.
