The Brush City Council is scheduled to start the management business portion of the meeting on Monday with a public hearing for Homestead Meadows, LLC.

According to the council agenda, the hearing is for a request for a subdivision final plat in the area east of Country Road 26 and south of Jennifer Circle in Brush.

A memo to the council about the hearing says the request is to subdivide a parcel of about 8.5 acres into 14 lots and has been discussed at two previous planning and zoning commission meetings. This is reportedly the last step in the process.

The council is also scheduled to consider several proclamations Monday night. The first would affirm this Friday, April 26, as Arbor Day in Brush.

The city of Brush and Beaver Valley Elementary School third-graders are scheduled to honor Arbor Day by planting trees at the Brush Memorial Cemetery at 9 a.m. Friday.

The council will also consider proclaiming May as Foster Care Awareness Month in Brush. The Morgan County Department of Human Services has said already they will be hosting events and raising awareness throughout the coming month. The department already partnered with the Sands Theatre in Brush back in March to host a host a free screening of the movie “Instant Family” to begin their awareness-raising across the county.

For those interested or with questions about what it means to be a foster parent, Morgan County DHS Director Jacque Frenier said anyone may contact Foster Care Coordinator Rachel Free at 970-542-3530, ext. 1588.

Work Session

The Brush City Council also has a thorough work session scheduled for Monday night after the regular meeting concludes.

After the last meeting’s presentation on “Smoke Free Parks” from Brush Junior Main Street and Northeast Colorado Health Department, the council is slated to discuss the idea further this week.

The council is also scheduled to discuss Incident Command System (ICS) emergency training.

During the previous work session in early April, the council began its discussion on how to replace the municipal court associate judge position. The council is scheduled to continue that discussion.

Next the council will discuss solar subscription, according to the work session agenda. At the last meeting, the council approved the first reading of an ordinance to approve the lease with Pivot Energy for lot two in the Brush Agripark Subdivision for 21 years for a community solar garden.

The council and staff have said previously the city could become a subscriber to the garden’s energy production, to be decided at a future date.

The final item on the work session agenda to be discussed Monday night is golf course property development.
