What the police update has told us

A man suffered “serious injuries” in an incident in Epsom on Friday (January 19), Surrey Police has confirmed.

The A240 Reigate Road in Epsom was shut during rush hour following the incident, which happened around 6am.

The man was believed to be cycling at the time.

The force has advised drivers to seek other routes until the road reopens and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Road remains closed

A police spokesman said:

The road is closed between Yew Tree Bottom Road and Rose Bushes, Tattenham Corner while officers investigate the circumstances around this incident.

Road users are advised to seek other routes until the road reopens.

Surrey Police has confirmed that a man, who is believed to have been riding a push bike, has been taken to hospital, suffering serious injuries.

What we know so far

A busy main road in Epsom was shut during rush hour on Friday morning (January 19) following a “serious collision”, reportedly involving a cyclist.

The collision happened at around 7am on the A240 Reigate Road, which was shut between Yew Tree Bottom Road and Rose Bushes, said Surrey Police.

Officers are urging road users to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while they deal with the situation.
