In the wake of the tragedy, locals have reported witnessing people behaving dangerously at the natural attraction.

'[There is] a high number of people who muck around at the edge of the KP cliff not realising the danger they are in,' one man wrote in a local Facebook group.

'A couple of weeks ago I was at the top of the KP cliff... and next to me was a young couple drinking wine looking over the city scape while dangling their feet over the edge.'

'What do you expect when people actually picnic regularly on the dangerous side or, as I have seen, young children as young as five collecting stones from the cliff side of the barrier,' another person wrote online.

Queensland police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

It is believed to be a case of misadventure and it not being treated as a suicide.
